Is Carmelita's open normal hours in the summer... ? August? Thanks?
Amazing food, great service, friendly staff. I had the breakfast burrito, and it was great. I highly recommend eating here!
MoreThe food is great and staff are very friendly.
Great food and excellent service. The flavor was perfect and the spice was just right - not too hot. But beware, the plates are hot when they serve you...keeps your meal toasty as you enjoy it. the grill also has a bar with multiple big screens for the game. Best Mexican food in the area and the prices are fair. Yes, I recommend this to my friends.
MoreThis is the place to go if you want to eat some good mexican food, I have been to the other places they are also good but this place is great. Atmosphere is cheery down to earth comfortable feeling when you walk in, and ALL are so nice gotta go on my way there now. Yummy
MoreGotta love this place. It's a classic Mexican restaurant in California but it's in the Anza Borrego desert, so the options are limited. It's a very popular place and has the feeling of a friendly neighborhood diner. The menu is good, with typical and not overly expensive options. The ambiance is what you'd expect, and frankly what you'd look for. Borrego Springs has the feel of an old west town with lots of bikers, motorcycles, RVs, and a few townies. I only give this place three stars because the flan we had for dessert was the worst I've had. And I've eaten a lot of flan. But my enchiladas in a mole sauce were quite good. You won't leave hungry.
MoreNot only is Carmelita's the best"Mexican" restaurant in town, it's the best restaurant period! Family owned and operated with the freshest machaca con huevos! The margarita and cocktails are bomb too. Don't listen to the propaganda in the borrego free press. This is thee spot!!!
MoreThe food was ok and the plates were burning hot. So hot my sister said this place needs to move them they can hurt someone .
MoreThanks Carla love you guys
Quality sit down Mexican joint. Everything was good and fresh, and the server was attentive and friendly. Great stop to reward a day of hiking
MoreGood food (with a large menu that has plenty of vegetarian options as well) and great margaritas!
MoreTasty food but often busy and usually understaffed. Prices are fair. Drinks are OK. We've dined there a number of times and the staff are always friendly and trying to do their best.
MoreExceptional food and exceptional people in an exceptional part of the world.
Great food and the service was top notch if I could give more stars I would....
I had house special, it was grilled chicken with sauce on it, it was good. And I also tried the local favorite, a mole chicken enchilada, it didn't have much flavor, but their beans were excellent, and our server was really good and on top of things, since we aren't familiar with the area we asked questions about Borrego Springs and she was able to answer them.
MoreWe stopped here on a recommendation of a State Park volunteer. During the wildflower season, at nearly 230 pm the place was filled, with almost a 20 minute wait for a table and almost 45 minute wait once we placed our order. This is not a negative on the restaurant, it was just that busy in the park and town. The food was very good! They have a good selection of vegetarian and vegan on top of the normal options for Mexican food. And the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. The staff was friendly and helpful.
MoreThey had real good strawberry margaritas food is okay felt good to be out in a restaurant eating again
MoreThe service was great and the food was even better. Definitely a place to go and check out!
MoreDelicious, great prices and friendly service.
Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Borrego Springs. Food is consistently fabulous. It is located on the back side of a shopping center called the Mall, so you wouldn't expect everyone to know about this place. Power of word of mouth advertising has made this a popular place. Expect to wait if you come at regular meal times.
MoreThis restaurant is definitely one of the most pleasant place to eat in the region. Anytime I go there I am truly satisfied. They preserve their very high level service and the highest level of meals they offer. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.
MoreFamily owned. Really delicious canned asada and fajita salads
Wow, food was amazing and talk about quick. Carla was great and attentive with spot on recommendations. Would definitely come back next time we're in town.
MoreAuthentic Mexican food. Very good!
The bartender Alice had it for me... been a customer for 15+ years. Found out their competition across the street, Pabilito's, is much more customer friendly. Never going back.
MoreThe food was right off the grill. You can tell it was made with love!!! Best place to eat with a group or friends and family. The service was on point!
MoreOne of the best restaurants in Borrego Springs. It's a great day before Thanksgiving get together for our family. Everyone enjoys the food and drinks.
MoreBig tasty helpings. Service was great. Drinks were strong!
Just got the menudo, it was really good they even gave me some beans. Never had beans with it before. Hopefully I can sweat out this cold or flu. Thank you guys, you saved me today. Lisa
MoreBest Mexican food in Borrego Sprimgs. We have often riden our motorcycles down for breakfast, even in Summer. We can eat and be back up the hill before it gets really hot.
MoreREAL mexican food, great service, amazing margaritas and generous portions in a fun atmosphere. One of my favs in Borrego!
MoreWe were in Borrego Springs to check out the Bloom, and stopped here since this place was rated so high. Mistake. This was lunch time, but after the regular lunch rush. It was busy, but not every table was occupied. We spent 1.5 hours just waiting for the quesadilla that we ordered as an appetizer to feed our son. Cheese and tortilla... thatβs it... We then waited another 30 minutes for the rest of our food. The food was okay depending on what you had. The shredded beef was very good!!! The rice and retried beans were good. The Chicken tortilla soup tasted like Campbellβs beef and vegetable soup. The service was absolutely horrendous. We were there for an hour before chips and salsa were ever offered. Had to ask 3 times for our bill just so we could leave. Donβt go here if you donβt have time to kill.
MoreMicheladas are good chips and salsa rock. Food is great also
Some of the best basic Mexican food we've had. Friendly service, reasonable prices, good drinks. Highly recommended. The just opened up after lock down and are doing a good job with social distancing and masks.
MoreGreat place for food and drinks! Reasonable prices considering that you're out in no-where land, Borrego Springs, CA
MoreNice place! Margaritas are awesome! Food was tasty. I had the steak burrito. It was done just right. Had to share coz it was humongous. The restaurant entrance is at the back of the strip mall so a little tricky to get there at night for a first timer. Big crowd and busy bar & restaurant. There were big waiting tables before they seat you in the dining where you can sit n order drinks from the bar.
MoreThis place has great food, very friendly people working there, i will always buy food here . wish they were close to where i live.
MoreGreat locals place. We had the special burrito and chili verde burrito. Everything was great! I will eat here again for sure!
MoreWhen the burrito ranchero is just a soggy tortilla wrapped around ground beef, and only ground beef, you cannot call that Mexican food. The veggie burrito was just a hodge podge of mixed salad veggies and beans, not enjoyable whatsoever. 1 small serving of chips for a table and no refill is a joke. Then we had to repeatedly ask for things, even the check at the end.
MoreAlways great food and service. They have outside seating and service.
Prices were high but then we saw the portion sizes and were very pleased. Food tasted great. My margarita was good too. Super popular even on a Monday night! Service was very attentive.
MoreVery good, well prepared offerings. Spicy means spicy for lightweights! Salsa is good, chips weren't. Shrimp (camarones) dishes were perfectly cooked.
MoreFoodPaid 18 for chili Colorado retired beans rice and salad. Also the same for steak picado plate. Both were great but the chili Colorado was awesome.Salsa:Also you can ask for hotter salsa/hot sauce and they will bring you a cup of it at no extra charge. The other salsa had good flavor but just not hot enough for Carolina reaper consumers.Service:Fast and efficient, order came correct. Request additional items and they were brought promptly.Parking:Free and plentyPrice:For being this far from a major city the price is decent.Cleanliness and comfort:No issues here and the air condition was set to polar setting but it was really hot outside. So bring a light jacket to wear after you cool off.
MoreWe went twice in 4 days. Menudo served every day. Dogs can join you on the patio, nice vibe.
MoreLove this place. Great food, great service and a menu with numerous Excellent options. Two taco plate is my favorite. The tacos are like street tacos - but stuffed, loaded with meat. My teenager loves the Works burrito, only a teenager could eat it - it's huge. My middle schooler loves the shrimp enchiladas verde. Nice big succulent shrimp. And you can leave paying a reasonable bill.
MoreExcellent food and service! Best Mexican food in town...
Greasy beans, Chile relleno had a strange taste and drowning in cheese topping. Shredded chicken had way to much dark chili sauce. Refried beans had pools of melted lard. They were out of several items at 4:30 pm. including two different soups. How this got such high ratings, is beyond me. Two thumbs down π π.
MoreFavorite place to go!!πβββgreat food and drinks. Wonderful owners!! Bartenders are nice, too.β€πππ΅ππ¦πβ
MoreExcellent food. Great service. Dog friendly patio.
Was in town for the sheep count and our group had dinner here. I ordered a watermelon margarita and the chicken mole enchiladas. Totally filled me up. The margarita was frothy and delicious. Not as strong but still refreshing after a long day in the desert.
MoreEasy access. Located in a small shopping mall. Large servings. Delicious food. Great service.
